A series of mini-strokes in 2014 changed my life. The last was in December, sat on a train departing Waterloo Station. Familiar feelings took hold, and I knew nothing could alter what would happen. ‘The Waiting Place’, by Dr Seuss, popped into my head

Not one to interrupt the efficient running of South Western Railway, I lowered the tray in front of me, placed my ticket ready for inspection, zipped my coat, pulled up the hood, sat slouched in the seat, closed my eyes…

Regaining consciousness as we sped through Woking station, I never found out whether the ticket inspector got to sneer disapprovingly at my lack of reaction

Relentless optimism’s my ‘go-to’ coping mechanism, tempered by; ‘never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end, with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality’ as Admiral James Stockdale said

The NHS model appeared aligned to big-pharma solutions. Consuming vast quantities of medication for the rest of my life was my last resort

Serendipitously, I discovered I can manipulate a nerve below the base of my neck which, to date, has curtailed the process which previously culminated in a mini-stroke

Research took me to the USA, and ‘nitric oxide and nasal breathing’. Seems its ‘an important signalling molecule in the cardiovascular system’ and ‘may influence all major systems and organs’

Placebo effect? Maybe, but its worked for me, for 10 years

The point is that I did all the research possible, in a subject in which I am not an expert. Investigation helped but, ultimately, I needed expert guidance

The same’s true of inter-generational family legacy tax-planning, and we are experts at that!
